El Nido, Palawan, had always been on my bucket list, and finally, I got the chance to experience its breathtaking beauty. This trip, though short—just 3 days and 2 nights—was packed with adventure, natural wonders, and first-time experiences. Joined by my Makati friends, we set out to explore the island's hidden gems, and I even learned how to drive a motorcycle for the first time!
Arrival and First AdventuresAs soon as we arrived in El Nido, the island's vibrant energy welcomed us. The first day was all about getting settled and soaking in the surroundings. We decided to start with something unique, so we headed straight to Snake Island Sandbar. As the tide receded, a winding strip of white sand appeared, creating a stunning pathway in the middle of the sea. Walking along this sandbar was surreal—like strolling on water. The view of the turquoise waters on either side was mesmerizing, and it was the perfect way to kick off our adventure.
Caves, Cliffs, and New SkillsThe second day was packed with exploration. We began our morning with a visit to Cudugnon Cave. This limestone sea cave is more than just a natural wonder; it’s steeped in history. Used as a burial site by the ancient Cuyonon people, the cave's formations were awe-inspiring. As I walked through its cool, shadowy chambers, I couldn't help but feel a connection to the island's rich past.
Next up was the Cathedral Cave. True to its name, the cave's interior resembled a grand cathedral, with towering rock formations that left us speechless. The natural light filtering through the cave’s entrance added a mystical touch to the atmosphere, making it one of the most memorable spots of the trip.
After the cave explorations, it was time for a different kind of adventure—learning how to drive a motorcycle. It was my first time, and while I was nervous at first, my friends were great teachers. By the end of the day, I was confidently navigating the island's scenic roads, feeling the wind in my hair as I cruised along.
Beach Bliss and Snorkeling DelightsOur final day in El Nido was all about the beach and underwater exploration. We started at Entalula Island, known for its towering limestone cliffs and powdery white sand. This island was the perfect spot to relax, take in the stunning surroundings, and reflect on the incredible experiences we’d had so far. The serene beauty of the place made it hard to leave.
The adventure continued at Popolkan Island, a small rocky outcrop with crystal-clear waters. This spot turned out to be a snorkeling paradise. As soon as we dove in, we were surrounded by vibrant marine life. The underwater world was alive with color, and it was a magical experience to swim among the coral reefs and schools of fish.
As our trip came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. El Nido exceeded all my expectations with its natural beauty and the warmth of its people. Learning to drive a motorcycle was an unexpected highlight, adding a personal milestone to the adventure. Though our stay was short, the memories we made will last a lifetime. El Nido, with its enchanting landscapes and unforgettable experiences, has undoubtedly secured a special place in my heart.
